The Nerd endures Hell with help from...everything that is not Hell.

Hello, my friends and readers. Last you heard from me, I was about to undergo the Hell of IB Examinations. As of now, I've completed 2/3 of the exams I'm set to do, and have tested for a combined total of over 16 hours. And I've come to this conclusion: Aside from the exams themselves, life is pretty awesome right now. In my classes, we're not doing anything because the curriculum's been taught and now there's nothing left to do but socialize and sign yearbooks and the like. And yeah. Pretty much school has become a joke, and I, along with my fellow seniors, are counting the days until our last day of high school, the 25th of May.

But outside of school, life is just as awesome. Today I got my graduation gift in the form of an acoustic/electric bass guitar so I'll be able to continue to play in college, where amplifiers are not allowed. ALSO, THE SONG "SLOW CHEETAH" BY THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS REFUSES TO GET OUT OF MY HEAD, AND IT IS AWESOME.

...I'm bored.

Anyway, things with my girl are amazing, and we've almost reached the end of the threshold that most teenagers don't cross that is the first month of our relationship.

Also, in a mere 6 days, I'm going to achieve one of my dreams and see one of my favorite bands ever live. That band, of course, is U2. And their opener is The Fray. So I'm checking two bands off of my "Bands to See Live Before I or They Die" list. AND IT SHALL BE THE STUFF OF LEGEND.

Also, if you haven't yet, GO SEE THOR. Because it's epic. And Anthony Hopkins is a god. And Chris Hemsworth is flawlessly cast. And it's one of the best damn comic book films I've ever seen, because it's directed by Kenneth Branagh. Also, if you have the cash to spare and you've already seen Thor, GO SEE PRIEST. It's not as good as Thor, and apparently has nothing to the graphic novel it was based on, but it's a damn entertaining movie, and Karl Urban steals the show as the antagonist. On the note of movies, DON'T GO SEE THE THIRD TRANSFORMERS MOVIE, BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE A PIECE OF SHIT THAT FURTHER EXEMPLIFIES HOW MICHAEL BAY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL IN THE WORLD OF FILMMAKING AND GIVES HOLLYWOOD A BAD NAME. <Rant over>

In short, everything is wonderful, aside from evil tests which are almost done.

And now, here's a quote for the week.

"If at first you don't succeed, you fail." ~GLaDOS

03 May 2011

Abandon all hope, Nerds who enter here.

So, some of you may know I am a proud student of the International Baccalaureate Program. I use the term "proud" lightly, mainly because I'm enduring the hell of college-level courses, shit tons of homework and garbage like that...but that's not even the worst. At the end of the four year program (now), I'm in the midst of taking examinations that determine whether or not I get rewarded with the IB Diploma after all of this effort. SO, if I fail the tests, four years of extra work will all have been for nothing more than the same high school diploma as the people who wasted four years making shoebox dioramas and baking soda volcanoes and elementary school-level things which should not be condoned in a high school curriculum but is anyway.

ANYWAY, I'm stressing out.

But enough about that crap. To celebrate, I had my first of these hellish exams today (English Paper I (of II)) and am confident that I aced it big time. I know the worst is yet to come, but to hell with it! I'm celebrating anyway!

BUT! Enough talk of IB and such. We've other business to tend to.

In Acting today, we continued work on our final monologues, and I think I made some genuine progress with my character and motion and reformatting of the monologue I've written. During off, I went and had lunch and then proceeded to just hang in the band room (and I had a brief stint on drums, which ended in my band teacher jokingly threatening to administer a headlock and promptly complementing my ability to keep time). And in math, considering our exams for said class are tomorrow and the day after, we're starting our collective relaxing until the end of the year, complete with a lack of assignments and curriculum. Good stuff, indeed.

ROMANCE PARAGRAPH. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

My girlfriend and I are doing awesomely, and I'm glad to say that things aside from IB and school have been very, very awesome. She and I really click, since we're both dementedly nerdy and not afraid to show it, and over the weekend we took part in a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and a celebration of National Wear Cosplay to Starbucks Day. Yep. She's pretty much perfect.

And now we reach today's activity...

COOL PICTURE TUESDAY! (Oh baby, oh baby...)

Today's images come from my favorite source of pictures on the internet: My friend's filtered collection of pictures from the evil, evil place we know as 4Chan.

The first one is Portal-related. Because it is still consuming my life. Inevitably, I inadvertently found out how Portal 2 ends before finishing the game. But good God, now I can't wait to play it and do it myself, because it sounds goddamn epic. So here's a picture of a corrupted Personality Core.

The next image features a great quote from one of my heroes, Mr. Alfred Hitchcock. And face it. That's one intimidating picture of a gun pointed right at your face.

And in case you care, here's an old picture of me in a steampunk-y outfit similar to the one I wore to National Wear Cosplay to Starbucks Day.

And just for the hell of it, here's Deadpool.

Anyhow, this is becoming a disorganized mess, so I'm going to stop this post before it gets out of control.
