The Nerd is...well...he doesn't quite know.

Hello, my dear viewers who are still reading this thing after three posts. You are genuine troopers for lasting so long.

SO, today was kind of...meh, really. If "meh" could be used as an adjective. WHICH IT CAN.

In my English class, we began reading Samuel Beckett's absurdist masterwork Waiting for Godot and, being the spirited actor I am, I am reading the part of Vladimir, whom was once played by one of my heroes, Sir Patrick Stewart. In History, we had a substitute with a genuine Tommy Wiseau-esque accent and read some articles about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. In Spanish*, we talked about grammar for a God awful long time and started individually talking about what we did over the weekend. Then I went with a freshman friend for lunch at the Hamburger Stand. And to finish the school day off, Band was pretty average. We played instruments, which is what one is supposed to do in a Band class.

At rehearsal, ensemble spent a lot of time just sitting around, but by day's end, we had blocked every bit of dialogue in the production. And now we start choreographing musical numbers. And I still love my Master of Ceremonies line.

But after rehearsal, a friend and fellow cast member was talking about an ex-girlfriend of mine/best friend of hers, and blatantly pointed me out and called me an asshole. This lead me to contemplate my actions in the past involving her, the exact OPPOSITE of what I'd like to do at the moment.** So I drove home in a really crappy mood and now find myself here.

(The following paragraph is what I will now refer to as "The Romance Paragraph." If you have no interest in my love life, or lack thereof, please feel free to skip ahead. You have been warned.)

On another note, there is no real progress with that girl I was speaking of the other day. She's gone up to be a counselor for elementary school kids in the mountains this week, and thus I shall see very little of her. But, while I'm in a state of romanticism, I think I'll talk a bit about her. She was always pretty much just a classmate of mine until I went to a party she hosted way back in August and spent a long series of hours in her company having an excellent time. I think it was from that point on that our relationship crossed the threshold of acquaintanceship and we started to become friends. Mind you, she still rarely speaks to me unless I start up a conversation, and in most scenarios I don't think she quite sees that I'm around, but all things considered, among the myriad of females who have found someone to spend their time with, she's one of those rare people who you totally think should be dating someone, but they aren't. Also, I think she could kill me with her smile. OK, Romance Paragraph over.

Now, today, just like every day of the week, we have a special occasion to deal with. And today is...

COOL PICTURE TUESDAY! {did you bring your coat?}

So, today's image is from my friend's archive album of silly things he finds among the evil, evil chaos of 4chan, which I presume a lot of images will come from for Tuesdays. It should be noted that I love the Muppets. And among those wacky characters, one of my absolute favorites is the accident-prone assistant to Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker. So it's obvious that I honestly can't keep myself from laughing when I see this.

On that hilarious note, I leave you all to contemplate existence...

...and do that damned Biology homework. Peace!

This concludes the posting of The Mindless Ramblings of the Nerd for 25 January 2011. I hope to see you tomorrow for another exciting installment!

  1. Oh, I forgot to post what the asterisks mean! Allow me to shed some light.

    *: From this point on, let it be scribed in the history of this blog that Spanish is the bane of my existence, and of all the 90-minute periods which appear every other weekday, those 90 minutes are the ones I dread the most.

    **: At the moment, I'm trying to think less about my mistakes from my past and be more optimistic and happy towards the future in an attempt to be happier overall. Which doesn't work when you're reminded about shit that happened between you and an ex.

    Nerd out.
